The same year, she was offered a job as an entry-level chef at the restaurant An American Place for one year. Guarnaschelli got her first taste of dining experiences through watching recipes she'd written in the cookbooks of her mother being examined at her home. She worked as a sous chef under Larry Forgione and then at various restaurants in New York France and Los Angeles including Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. She ultimately became executive chef for Butter. Guarnaschelli competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America in 2007. She took on Cat Cora at the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 and won. In the following years, she has appeared as an Iron Chef America judge and in 2011 competed in The Next Iron Chef season four, where she finished third runner-up. She also competed on The Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast episode, but lost the competition.
